Everytime I see that hit it reminds me of the Hanson brother punching the guy during warmups coming across the red line.

For those asking about notes on the prospects.

From yesterdays Morning session:
Blue -

21 Sundher: looks a bit more fleshed out; still has good quicks;
22 Black: tries hard, but some of the hits on the pulse monitor were higher than anyone else I noted;
33 Pysyk: was Pysyk
34 Austin: Continues to impress me for how well he moves for a big man
41 Varone: Very competitive in the modified 4-on-2/shinny season
44 Zadarov: is massive. Looked pretty good in most of the drills, including one in the one-on-ones with Girgensons that just went on and on.
45 Nelson: lots of contact
46 Iafello: Had a real nice outside speed move on RR in the 1-on-1's where he beat Petersen along the ice inside the far post. Impressed me in the shinny.... Raiders represent.

Yellow -

3 McCabe: lead in the d-drills, lots of battle and seems like he's over his injuries
4 MacKenzie: steady
15 Possler: hands and straightline speed as advertised.
17 Kea: still a little gawky/angular but loved his work in the shinny
27 Ristolainen: big kid, moves well, did get beat on an outside move from Iafello
20 Parker: ....
28 Girgensons: LOTS of battle, and got more and more into it as the morning went along. Not as vocal as last year, but Rolston certainly was much more "rah-rah, go, go!" than Ruff ever was.
38 Locke: Missed a glorious open net in the 2-on-1's but looked like he fit in
72 Baptiste: Dropped his shoulder a couple of times to initiate contact and create space that his quick feet can utilize

Knapp: still takes up a lot of the net and still let in a few that he probably would rather have back, especially low
Petersen: hard to beat when I was watching him

From yesterdays afternoon session:

Blue

3- Lepkowski: Celebrating the contract by knock people down? Well, thanks, seems he will do just that. Solid and looks even bigger than ever.
4 - Gauthier-Leduc: Needs a haircut. You can see the tools. Curious to see what comes out of the toolbox.
12 - Isackson: Doing his thing, getting to the inside, scrappying, not quitting on plays. Still not the smoothest skater out there, but maybe a touch faster? I don't know their trial times, compared to last year, but he was getting around well with pace.
13 - Malone: He and Compher are two peas in a pod. There is some devil in this kid, and I mean that in a good way.
15 - Jacobs: Had good finish on a snapper, lots of contact in the shinny
17 - Catenacci: Quick; perhaps trying to be too fine just like last year when he was Mr. Metal. He cranked a couple pipes in different drills. Fast we know, it'll be interesting to see what he does with it.
20 - Navin: Up-and-down, some contact
25 - Grigorenko: Also needs a haircut ; high-fiving with JGL at one point, very focused
27 - Czuczman: Return invitee. Is this the next Kostka? Clearly they like having him here.

Gold

5 - Ruhwedel: Had a sweet high-stick-side goal on Ullmark from in tight, lead the d-men in drills
22 - Bailey: Got the most cheers from a smattering of fans, rangy, a wet-dream if he fills out and can play at speed when fully grown. That knack for getting into scoring position is innate, you can't teach that ****.
24 - McNabb: Knee seems to be good, still has heavy feet but was pushing off and cutting hard in the timing drills and shinny
34 - Florentino: Good size, but moves really well.
41 - Compher: Diving to block shots in shinny? OK. Competitive as advertised. He had a bit of a war going with Lepkowski in the shinny, just all sorts of battle. Loved seeing this.
45 - Peterson: Competitive, vocal
46 - Hurley: I will try to not man crush on his game, but this kids got a lot of intriguing skill/speed in a solid frame. "Smooth". Lepkowski schooled him in the 1-on-1's early, but he came right back strong.
47 - Gjurich: A good day for the local kid, especially in the shinny. Went high cheese on Ullmark three straight shots from exactly the same spot, then roofed a deflection in tight -- Tanti-esque

Goalies --

49 - Lieuwen: Gave up a couple just under the bar, but looked good
40 - Makarov: Second best tender of the day (behind Petersen) IMO
50 - Ullmark: I thought the new gear did him no favors. He got beat in the shinny a lot high and just looked uncomfortable.

Pulled these notes from someone else who was there and reporting on another forum.

I like that Grigonsons was the best forward on the ice. I didn't go, but I can picture him darting around the ice like a squirrel. Last year I went to every Amerks game and by the end of the season I had everyone in my section calling him Zemgus the squirrel. He's going to be one hell of a player and an even better captain. His offensive upside is very underrated. Soon he'll be leading the Sabres out onto the ice and probably leading them in scoring too. He'll be racking up points faster than a squirrel collects nuts for winter.

Unless, of course, Armia is the captain and scoring leader...

Somehow I didn't get banned. Hmm. Oh well I'm sick of the same negative comments day in day out. Find something new to say or don't say anything. It's the offseason nothing is going to change overnight

I think the best smartest thing we can ALL do is ignore his posts COMPLETELY, no matter how idiotic they are.

If you had to pick one franchise to root for (but not necessarily live near), would you take Florida or Calgary?

The easy answer is Calgary. Real hcokey market. History. A cup non buy a guy with an epic beard.

Then again Florida, I'd like to believe I'll actually be in FLA someday to see a game if I was a "fan". No plans to be in Calgary anytime soon.

Yeah hes a big guy. More of a stay at home dman. Hardly any offensive upside at all. The Sabres lost his rights when they failed to offer him a contract by the deadline this year. However, they did manage to sign him to an AHL contract.

Calgary... they have cooler jerseys and actually have a fanbase. Florida was another busted 'great idea' by the league to expand hockey's popularity in college football, hot and sticky swamp land.

Can someone please tell me why Girgensons can play in the AHL but Grigorenko can't. Aren't they the same age?

Nah, I'm definitely not Canadian and I'd go with the Flames without really having to think about it. I mean, Lanny MacDonald?
